| الوصف: | Au travers de l’évolution des villes françaises aux Antilles, depuis leurs origines jusqu’à la fin du XXe siècle, il s’agit de comprendre quelles ont été les spécificités de ces villes par rapport à celles de métropole, et d’analyser quelles ont été les dynamiques urbaines communes observées entre celles établies dans l’archipel de Guadeloupe et l’île de la Martinique. La découverte de l’Amérique, le phénomène de l’insularité́, le monde des plantations, la traite négrière et l’esclavage, les abolitions, les catastrophes naturelles servent de dénominateur commun à l’histoire des villes que les Français ont fondées aux Antilles. Elles partagent un héritage historique commun avec les autres villes établies dans la région par les Européens lors des premiers siècles de la colonisation en Amérique. L’évolution des villes françaises aux Antilles depuis les origines de la colonisation jusqu’à nos jours, a donné naissance à des espaces urbains ayant une morphologie, une identité particulière dans un contexte où s’entremêlent la ville planifiée et la ville spontanée. À travers l’exemple de ces villes fondées par les Français en Amérique, il s’agit de déterminer quelles sont les spécificités des villes françaises aux Antilles et les dynamiques urbaines communes observées, en tenant compte de leurs différentes composantes et en s’interrogeant sur ce qui fait leur singularité. Through the evolution of French cities in the West Indies, from their origins until the end of the twentieth century, it is important to understand what the specificities of these cities were compared to those of metropolitan France, and to analyze what was the common urban dynamics observed between those established in the archipelago of Guadeloupe and the island of Martinique. The discovery of America, the phenomenon of insularity, the world of plantations, the slave trade and slavery, abolitions, natural disasters serve as the common denominator of the history of cities that the French founded in the West Indies. They share a common historical heritage with other cities established in the region by Europeans during the first centuries of colonization in America. The evolution of French cities in the West Indies, from the origins of colonization to the present day, has given birth to urban spaces with a particular morphology and identity in a context where the planned and spontaneous city intertwines. Through the example of these cities founded by the French in America, it is necessary to determine what are the specificities of the French cities in the West Indies and the common urban dynamics observed, taking into account their different components and wondering about what makes them unique. |
