| الوصف: | L’article examine la voix, en particulier la voix humaine qui parle. En nous appuyant sur l’exemple des premiers enregistrements sonores de voix au xixe siècle, nous expliquons brièvement la genèse de la fascination nouvelle des historiens pour la voix et les « paysages sonores » dans les recherches récentes, en insistant en particulier sur les travaux de la recherche allemande. En mobilisant le concept d’Oratorik ou oratory, nous analysons ensuite les voix des orateurs, en particulier ceux qui s’expriment lors des assemblées laïques et ecclésiastiques de la fin du Moyen Âge (diètes impériales et conciles). On présente enfin cinq exemples de sources qui permettent d’appréhender la manière dont étaient perçues différentes situations de parole : de la défaillance de la voix individuelle (Jean de Ségovie, Johannes Hinderbach) aux performances vocales réussies des humanistes (Gerardo Landriani, Pie II), en passant par la cacophonie d’une session du concile de Bâle en 1438. This article examines the voice, in particular the spoken word. Working from the example of the first sound recordings of the human voice from the 19th century, we will briefly explain the genesis of the historian’s recent fascination with the human voice and “soundscapes” in recent research, with particular emphasis on the work of the German scholars. With reference to the concept of Oratorik or oratory, we then analyse the use of the voice by orators especially those who spoke during the lay and ecclesiastical assemblies of the end of the Middle Ages. (Imperial diets and councils). Finally we discuss five examples of source material which show how various situations involving the spoken word were perceived: from an individual losing his voice (John of Segovia, Johann Hinderbach) to the humanists and their oratorical prowess (Gerardo Landriani, Pius II) without forgetting the cacophony that broke out during a session of the Basel Council of 1438. |
