| الوصف: | Neste relato descrevem-se as várias fases, que no seu conjunto duraram 5 anos e meio, da recuperação e restauro do Real Mosteiro de S. Cristóvão de Lafões, a partir da sua aquisição, por privados, em 1984. Para além de um restauro cuidadoso, respeitador de toda a estrutura e recorrendo a materiais e técnicas tradicionais, foi objectivo o conseguir a recuperação do Mosteiro, tal como se apresentava em 1834 (ano da expulsão dos monges). Foi ainda necessário criar uma base de sustentação, concedendo ao Mosteiro duas vertentes: a de recepção de hóspedes (através de Turismo de Habitação) e a de actividade cultural (pela realização de jornadas culturais, actualmente na sua 11 ª edição anual, e de concertos, bem como nas visitas, guiadas por conhecedores do tema). A igreja conventual, hoje paroquial, que sempre manteve o culto foi igualmente objecto de beneficiações e de intervenções de conservação. After being bought in 1984 by private buyers, the Royal Monastery of S. Cristóvão de Lafões was subject to campaigns of recovery during five and a half years. The object of this work was to recover and restore the ruined Cistercian abbey, carefully respecting the structure of the monastery. Thus, the structure was not altered and materials and techniques followed as closely as possible the original ones. The overall objective was to obtain a close approximation to the building as it presented itself before 1834, the year the monks were expelled. Simultaneosly, and in order to obtain a basis for the maintenance of the building, two approaches were attempted. On the one side, cultural activities such as the Cultural Meeting of the Monastery (in its 11th annual edition) and tours, guided by experts, are regularly held; musical events are hoisted additionally, The abbatial Church (now Parish Church) was also subject to restorative intervention. On the other hand, a comfortable bed and breakfast allowed for housing a large number of guests, thus becoming acquainted with Cistercian spirituality and its day-to-day manifestations. |
