| الوصف: | This essay tries to question the usual, quasi-consensual reading of Walden as a celebration of life, health and youth. It relies on a network of underground metaphors which introduce a number of disturbing interferences into the text, from slumber, choking or infectiousness to decay and death, and are deliberately concealed by humor or the grotesque. It also attempts to show how these motifs gradually emerge, how they climax in the chapters devoted to the winter months, and how they appear even in the final celebration of spring rebirth. Ce travail propose de questionner la lecture quasi-consensuelle d’un livre généralement vu comme un hymne à la vie, la santé et la jeunesse. Il s’appuie pour ce faire sur un réseau de métaphores clandestines qui introduisent dans le texte de Walden toute une série d’interférences troublantes, de l’assoupissement à la décrépitude et la mort en passant par l’étouffement ou la contagion, et qui sont délibérément masquées par l’humour ou le grotesque. Il tente également de montrer comment ces motifs gagnent peu à peu jusqu’à éclater dans les chapitres consacrés à l’hiver, et comment ils apparaissent même dans l’évocation de la reverdie printanière. |
