| الوصف: | En 1852, la livraison des derniers tronçons de la ligne de Paris à Strasbourg ouvre en grand le marché parisien aux productions agroalimentaires d’Alsace et de Lorraine, notamment à celle de la bière. La Compagnie des chemins de fer de l’Est et les brasseurs s’entendent d’ailleurs très vite pour tirer le meilleur parti de cette nouvelle réalité : trains complets à marche rapide, embranchements particuliers, wagons spéciaux, tout concourt à l’essor de l’industrie brassicole locale, confrontée dans le même temps à la révolution du froid, garant d’une plus grande qualité. Une marche en avant que l’annexion des deux provinces à l’Empire allemand entre 1871 et 1918 attiédit quelque peu. La brasserie Gruber, à Strasbourg, est représentative de ce courant. In 1852 the completion of the final segment of the Paris-Strasbourg line swung open the doors of the Paris market to agro-alimentary products from Alsace and Lorraine, especially beer. The Compagnie des chemins de fer de l’Est and breweries quickly reached agreement on how best to take advantage of this new reality : with full trains at high speed, private branch lines connecting the plants to the main network, and special cars, everything contributed to the boom in the local brewing industry ; at the same time, it encountered the revolution in cold storage, a further guarantee of superior quality. It was a progressive step which the annexation of the two provinces to the German Empire from 1871 to 1918 cooled down. The Gruber brewery in Strasbourg is representative of this trend. |
