الوصف: A Beyrouth, les mazar (oratoires en l'honneur d'un saint) se rencontrent surtout dans les quartiers chrétiens, notamment catholiques, et plutôt dans les quartiers populaires. Presque la moitié des mazar sont dédiés à la Vierge, puis viennent saint Elie, sainte Charbel, sainte Rita, etc. Les saints doivent protéger les individus et les biens, une fonction qui s'est amplifiée pendant la guerre, procurer des bienfaits, venger les croyants contre leurs persécuteurs. Ils font l'objet d'un culte quotidien et de pratiques exceptionnelles.
Beyrouth's Mazar (little mausoleum built in the honor of a Saint) stay mainly in Christian areas, usually catholic and chiefely popular. Quiet half of the mazar are dedicate to the Virgin. By order the other Saints concerned are Elie, Charbel, Rita. The protective role of the saints has been increased during the war. The saints have to protect the individuals and the properties, to get benefactions, to avenge the believers against their persecutors. They are the object of a daily worship and exceptional ceremonies.
