| الوصف: | Le Velay médiéval occupe une marge de l’Auvergne médiévale à la jonction entre influences méridionales (Languedoc) et septentrionales. Le territoire demeure ouvert, irrigué par deux vallées fluviales (Loire et Allier) malgré un relief de moyenne montagne et de hauts plateaux (géologie volcanique et roches métamorphiques).Cet article est l’occasion de mettre en avant quelques caractères constitutifs de l’identité singulière de ce territoire aux influences méridionales et de comprendre de quelle manière l’architecture fortifiée traduit cette particularité. Sur une sélection d’exemples de tours et d’agglomérations, les traits formels et morphologiques soit de l’habitat individuel (les résidences seigneuriales), soit collectives (les enceintes des bourgs), sont décryptés à travers le prisme des relations de domination.Cette contribution synthétise un des axes de recherches développé dans ma thèse. The medieval Velay is located on the edge of the medieval Auvergne at the junction between southern (Languedoc) and northern influences. The territory remains open, irrigated by two river valleys (Loire and Allier), despite a relief of medium mountains and high plateaus (volcanic geology and metamorphic rocks).This article is an opportunity to highlight some of the characteristics that make up the singular identity of this territory with its southern influences and to understand how the fortified architecture reflects this particularity. On a selection of examples of towers and agglomerations, the formal and morphological features of either individual housing (seigneurial residences) or collective housing (town walls) are deciphered through the prism of relations of domination.This contribution synthesises one of the lines of research developed in my thesis. |
