| الوصف: | L’Encyclopedia Metallum est une base de données collaborative consacrée à la scène metal accessible depuis 2002 à l’adresse metal-archives.com. L’article présente une analyse quantitative de cette base volumineuse (plus de 120 000 groupes renseignés) en considérant l’ensemble de la période (1970-2017) puis les évolutions de la dernière décennie. Abordant successivement la diffusion du metal à l’échelle planétaire, la multiplication des genres et les thèmes dominants abordés par les groupes, notre analyse montre l’évolution d’une scène qui a su croître et proliférer en dehors des medias mainstream. Combinant cartographie, analyse statistique et visualisation de graphes, cet article s’inscrit dans une démarche de recherche reproductible, tous les scripts et données utilisés étant librement accessibles. The Encyclopedia Metallum is a collaborative database dedicated to the metal scene, accessible since 2002 at metal-archives.com. This paper presents a quantitative analysis of this voluminous base (more than 120,000 groups informed) considering the whole period (1970-2017), and the developments of the last decade. Addressing successively the diffusion of metal on a planetary scale, the multiplication of genres and the dominant lyrical themes addressed by the groups, our analysis shows the evolution of a scene that has grown and proliferated outside the mainstream media. Combining mapping, statistical analysis and graph visualization, this article is part of a repeatable research approach, as all the scripts and data used are freely accessible. |
