| الوصف: | Cet article analyse l’autobiographie de Graça Aranha, O meu próprio romance, mettant côte à côte biographie et autobiographie, avec deux objectifs. D’une part, il s’agit de montrer comment Aranha a dû s’adapter à différentes conjonctures et à la pression des réseaux de relations, déterminé ainsi par des forces sociales qui le transcendaient. D’autre part, l’article souligne la façon dont Aranha a profité des possibilités d’agency disponibles dans chaque configuration sociale, habile qu’il était pour tisser des réseaux qui lui ont accordé, d’une certaine façon, un rôle de protagoniste. La fabrication d’un récit de soi, sous la forme de l’autobiographie, fait partie de cette mainmise sur la vie, qui trie et interprète les événements biographiques afin de modeler l’image qu’il léguera à la postérité. O artigo analisa a autobiografia de Graça Aranha, O meu próprio romance, cotejando biografia e autobiografia e com dois objetivos. De um lado, trata-se de mostrar como Aranha precisou se adaptar a diferentes conjunturas e a pressões de redes de relações sociais, neste sentido determinado por forças sociais que o transcendiam. De outro lado, o artigo aponta o modo pelo qual Aranha aproveitou os espaços de agency disponíveis em cada uma destas figurações sociais, hábil em tecer redes de relacionamento que lhe deram certo protagonismo. Deste movimento de manejo da vida fez parte a fabricação de uma narrativa de si, sob forma de autobiografia, que tria e interpreta eventos biográficos, com vistas a moldar a imagem que legará à posteridade. This article examines the autobiography of Graça Aranha, O meu próprio romance, bringing together biography and autobiography, with two objectives. On the one hand, we aim to show how Aranha was forced to adapt to different situations and to the pressures of networks of social relationships, determined by social forces that were beyond him. On the other hand, the article signals how Aranha made the most of the spaces of agency available in each of these social configurations, by deftly weaving relational networks that afforded him a certain scope of protagonism. One outcome of this attempt to exert control over his life was the creation of a self-narrative, in the form of an autobiography, which ordered and interpreted biographic events to mould the image that would be left behind for posterity. |
