Pour ces groupes, l’environnement maritime et les relations avec la mer jouent un rôle fondamental dans la conception de la personne. À partir de la description ethnographique des savoirs liés à l'environnement maritime et de leur apprentissage chez les Bardi, un groupe aborigène vivant sur le littoral dans la région des Kimberley en Australie Occidentale, cet article examine la manière dont ces connaissances et leur acquisition par les jeunes Aborigènes contribuent non seulement à la reproduction des relations avec l’environnement et les êtres qui l’habitent, mais aussi à la construction des identités individuelles et collectives. Many Indigenous groups in Australia refer to themselves as “saltwater people”. For these groups, their relationships with the ocean and its environment play a significant role in the definition of the self and personhood. Based on the ethnographic description of the marine ecological knowledge of Bardi people, an Indigenous group from the coastal Kimberley region in Western Australia, this article examines how this knowledge and the training of the younger generations through Indigenous tourism can inform the reproduction of the relationships with the land and sea and the beings who inhabit it, as well as the construction of individual and collective Indigenous identities. |
