الوصف: In a meadow 17 kmSouth of Visby (Gotland) are two of the largest ship settings on the island located. The Gotlandic stone ship settings are traditionally placed in the Nordic Late Bronze Age (1100-500 BC). Close by the largest stoneship in Ansarve, which measures 45 meters in length, is also the onlymegalithic grave known on Gotland located. A construction dated to the Mid-Neolithic (3500-2900 BC) and erected over a thousand year before the stone ships. It has been several archaeological excavations in the meadow, but all of them have concentrated on their specific prehistoric period and construction, either the megalithic tomb or the ship settings. Even when findings and the absolute dating from 1984´s excavation ofthe megalithic tomb gave indications of Bronze Age use or re-use were the ship settings close by discussed or considered in the final report and later publications. The meadow at Ansarve holds two of the most prominent prehistoric monuments on Gotland, but they have never been discussed in the same context. The modern road cutting the meadow today also divides the megalithic tomb from the largest ship setting in time and space. A visual imaginary boarder this specific paper tries to bridge. The the oretical framework used is developed from the works of Maurice Halbwachs, Paul Ricoeur, Pierre Nora and Paul Connerton considering collective memory, memory and place, memory and history.
