La presente tesis doctoral tiene como objetivo estudiar cuáles son los efectos cerebrales del entrenamiento musical y cuáles de estos efectos están determinados por aspectos madurativos. Para poder estudiar dichos aspectos se han propuesto tres objetivos o preguntas de investigación. En el primer objetivo de nuestra investigación nos planteamos si existirían diferencias cerebrales en los correlatos neurales de la discriminación musical. El segundo objetivo de nuestra investigación consiste en estudiar el Modelo neurocognitivo del desarrollo por competencias de Seither-Preisler y cols. (2014), a partir del estudio del cerebro de niños que están empezando los estudios musicales. Finalmente, el tercer objetivo de esta tesis nos plateamos si existirían diferencias con relación a la dominancia del lenguaje entre músicos diestros y zurdos, y si estas diferencias están determinadas por la formación musical. En resumen, los estudios de este trabajo contribuyen a mostrar que tanto factores madurativos como los relacionados con la instrucción pueden contribuir a ilustrar la relación entre cerebro y las aptitudes musicales.

The aim of this thesis is to study the cerebral effects of musical training and which of these effects are determined by maturational aspects. In order to study these aspects, three objectives or research questions have been proposed. The first objective of our research would be to ask if there are cerebral differences in the neural correlates of musical discrimination. The second objective of our research is to study the neurocognitive model of development by competencies of Seither-Preisler et al. (2014), from the study of the brain of children who are beginning musical studies. Finally, the third aim of this thesis is whether there would be differences in relation to the dominance of language between right-handed and left-handed musicians, and whether these differences are determined by musical training. In summary, the studies of this work contribute to show that both maturational factors and those related to instruction can contribute to illustrate the relationship between brain and musical aptitudes.
