| الوصف: | L’estudi de traduccions escenificables de texts enllaçats amb música comporta un factor de coordinació ritmicomusical que condiciona fortament la tasca. La necessitat de conèixer les llengües implicades però també el llenguatge musical limita el nombre de professionals i estudiosos en el camp. En aquesta tesi s'estudien traduccions del musical, gènere musicoteatral d'origen estatunidenc, revisant-ne la participació en la construcció identitària de diverses cultures meta, per mitjà d'Into the Woods, de James Lapine i Stephen Sondheim. La descripció de les tècniques de traducció utilitzades i la caracterització de l’acostament dels texts traduïts a la cultura meta —segons les prioritats afavorides pel traductor— ens permeten comparar les traduccions. Els valors obtinguts i les paraules dels traductors permeten inferir una posició de cada traducció en una escala d’acostament cultural. Les diferències descrites es poden deure a raons diverses, però les eines d’anàlisi resulten prometedores per aplicar-les a la comparació d'altres traduccions del gènere. |
| الوصف (مترجم): | The study of staged translations for music-related texts makes it possible to describe a highly complex phenomenon. The fact that the translated texts must respect rhythmic-musical coordination adds strict formal constraints to the problems inherent in other literary or theatrical texts. Besides, translators must be experts in the pair of languages and cultures involved, and also in the musical language and the intersection of both worlds. These particularities limit the number of professionals who are active in this field as well as the amount of research conducted. In this dissertation, the musical-theatrical genre of the musical, of great importance for the identity of the United States while having enormous worldwide diffusion, is studied to review its participation in the identity construction of various target cultures, taking the case of Into the Woods, written by prominent creators such as James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim. The description of translation techniques used in each target text (Catalan, Italian, European Spanish and Puerto Rican Spanish) and the characterisation of their approach to the target culture with respect to the source culture — depending on the priorities favoured by the translator — provide us with tools for comparison and indications about the position of the texts in each culture. The values obtained allow us to infer that despite the restrictions related to the formal complexity of the genre, it is possible to place each translation within a cultural ranking and interpret the results thanks to the translators’ statements. The changes described may be due to various reasons, from translator preferences or skills to diverging social norms.
