مستخلص: This study focuses on electronic office hour consultations and investigates the presence and organization of pragmatic elements associated with negotiating the completion and evaluation of coursework in the e-mail messages of 28 American and international students to an American professor. Findings indicate a lack of negotiation skills in the international students' messages, which might give them a disadvantage in completing coursework successfully. Specific research questions include the following: "What features of negotiation distinguish native speakers (NS) and non-native speakers (NNS)?""What determines more efficient negotiation in online conferences between students and professors?" Six tables, five bar charts, and 49 references are included. (Author/KFT)
