مستخلص: This report presents results and recommendations from an assessment of the Campus Compact Center for Community Colleges (5C or the Center), Arizona, designed to support and guide planning for the future of the center. The study was supported by the Campus Compact and the Maricopa Community College District/Mesa College, Arizona. The project addressed three goals: (1) describe and assess the organizational relations among the center, the national and state compacts, and the Maricopa Community College District (MCCD); (2) assess the fit between the needs and interests of the community college sector on the one hand, and the activities of the 5C and the compact on the other; and (3) make specific recommendations regarding future directions for the 5C. The study consisted of a two-day site visit to the center and a telephone survey of 25 community college service learning coordinators. The survey sample was drawn from four lists of institutions: (1) those who have received a site visit by 5C; (2) those who attended a specific 5C national conference; (3) those that are compact members; and (4) all U.S. community colleges. The findings here indicate that most of the respondents who had received a site visit found it to be effective, though the sample is too small to provide results that are generalizable to the total population of community colleges.
