The article discusses the need of many school librarians to advocate to keep their positions. Topics include a July 2021 report by the School Librarian Investigation--Decline or Evolution? (SLID) research project which found that 20 percent of full-time school librarian positions were slashed between 2020 and 2019, issue on equity in many large cities, and a school librarian hiring boom being experienced in New York City Public Schools (NYCPS). |
