The contribution of philosophy to the subject fields Knowledge Organization and Terminology are explored and exemplified. Special emphasis is placed on the philosophical fields of Logic, Theory of Science, Epistemology, Ontology, Phenomenology, Alethiology, and Metaphysics. Existing attempts are described which assist in the recognition and application of pertinent principles and methods by terminological standards as well as the possible and necessary work towards reconciliation of the approaches of the two subject fields for the sake of an improved access to the knowledge of mankind.
