The article offers information on a visit to the inner workings of the Louvre and Centre de Recherche et de Restauration des Musées de France (C2RMF) in Paris, by the Independent Paper Conservators' Group, from June 20 to 21, 2007. The participants visited the studios and laboratories of the C2RMF, where they saw people working on paintings. They met scientist Alain Duval at the Louvre, who took them around the Research Laboratories at C2RMF. Irene Julier of the Louvre showed the participants her research on historic mountings which included photographic records of graphics by Pierre Marriette and Vasari. |
